About the display and calculations
The 11 attributes are gender, age, educational attainment, employment status, industry, occupation, employer size, annual income, university major, residence and workplace. Groups and their details belong to the same attribute; respondents are not counted twice.
Each chart applies conditions from the other attributes. Its own selection is indicated by colour and outlines. The headline count applies all conditions. Multiple selections use OR within an attribute and AND across attributes. Clearing a group also clears its detailed selections. Clearing the last detailed selection returns to the whole group.
Changing survey year clears the conditions. Detailed categories retain each survey’s original response options. Industry has nine groups and occupation four, with missing answers kept separately. Age groups are under 30, 30s, 40s, 50s and 60 or older across all years. Employer size is grouped into under 100, 100–299 and 300 or more employees; annual income into under JPY 3 million, JPY 3–5.99 million and JPY 6 million or more. Education has eight groups, university majors 13, and residence and workplace eight regions. Missing and declined answers remain separate and are included in denominators. “No response record” is distinct from the source data’s “No response” category.
